Sportsbook Favors Kings over the Rangers in Stanley Cup Wagering

With the puck set to drop on the 2014 Stanley Cup final in Southern California on Wednesday night the oddsmakers at the sportsbooks have sided with the Los Angeles Kings in their best-of-seven series against the New York Rangers.

At Bodog the Kings are sitting as -170 favorites on the Stanley Cup final series prices, with the Rangers the underdogs on those NHL wagering lines at +150. Los Angeles is also set as the -155 home favorite for Game 1 on Wednesday night, with New York at +135, and the total for the game pegged at five goals.

Over at 5Dimes the lines are the same for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final in Los Angeles, with the Kings slightly smaller series favorites at -165 (and the Rangers at +145). And with both the Kings and the Rangers playing in extended series over the first three rounds of the playoffs you can also find +191 odds at 5Dimes that the Stanley Cup final goes the distance.

The Kings have already played three seven-game series in these playoffs, ousting each of the San Jose Sharks, Anaheim Ducks, and Chicago Blackhawks in lengthy sets. The Rangers beat both the Philadelphia Flyers and the Pittsburgh Penguins in seven games before needing only six games to knock out the Montreal Canadiens last round.

The Kings winning the Stanley Cup final in seven games is set at +390 odds at 5Dimes, with six games at +475, five games at +405, and four games at +1000. The Rangers have a +540 line on those Stanley Cup props at 5Dimes to win the Cup in seven games, with New York at +535 for six games, +1000 for five games, and +1950 for a sweep.

Games 1 and 2 of the Stanley Cup final will both be played in Los Angeles, with those matchups set for Wednesday and Saturday night. Madison Square Garden then hosts Games 3 and 4 next Monday and Wednesday, and if there isn’t a sweep Game 5 is back in Los Angeles next Friday night.

Game 6 would be in New York on June 16, with Game 7 played in Los Angeles on June 18.
